Do you think the United Sates should be more or less democratic?3
I think the United States should be a little more democratic. We should be able to directly vote for president. That way there wouldn’t be a case where one candidate has more popular votes and the other has more electoral votes so he would win. That is what happened in 1824 with Andrew Jackson and John Quincy Adams. Jackson had more popular votes meaning more of the people actually voted for him but Adams had more electoral votes meaning more of the electors voted for him. If we voted directly for the president, then this wouldn’t happen. Also, we should have some say in the laws and bills. If they want to pass a law preventing abortion, we should be able to say whether we want that or not. It shouldn’t just be up to the people of Congress. I don’t mind the way we are now but I think we could change to be a little more democratic.
I definitely agree with these opinions. I also believe that we, as citizens of the United States, we should have much more say in what happens as far as passing laws and electing leaders goes, as you said. Very thoughtful post!
