Inspiration3

Inspiration can come from anyone and anything. For me, it comes from all around. It comes from music and sounds that I here that inspire me to dance and sing along with the melodies. Nature inspires me to write poetry, songs, and even stories. The people around me inspire me to do the things that I do and make the choices I make. They guide me and help me to choose. They inspire me to be who I want to be, go where I want to go, and live the life that I want to live.

I tag 2 people to write a post on inspiration and what inspires you. Then you can leave a comment about what you posted on this blog- dmantz7.edublogs.org/2009/03/19/what-inspires-me/

These are the people I tag-

Go Green!1

My family recycles and uses things over if we can, but I think there is so much more we can do. We can pick up litter, reuse many things, use less aerosols and much more. I think we need to be more green but we’re just afraid to step up. I think it is that way with everyone. We want to help the Earth but we are worried that we’ll be the only ones. I guarantee you won’t be. I f someone starts to help the Earth then others will join in. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle are the three R’s. Listen to them, follow them, and teach them to others so that we may save the planet. I know I need to do more and I will. I know if I do something, then maybe I could get someone else to too. Before you know it, we could all do something. But even if it is one little thing, it still makes a difference.

Google Map1

Lauren, Mallorie and I made this map for a school project. This is a map showing many travelers’ encounters with Indians along the Oregon Trail. Each encounter is represented by a green tepee. The blue line represents the basic Oregon trail. However, some people took different routes than others, so some points may not be on the trail. The red pins represent the starting and ending points on the trail.

Democracy0

What is democracy?

Democracy is a form of government run mostly by the people. The people vote, the people pay, the people live with the decisions.

In a democracy, the people vote for which candidates will represent their town, state and country. The people are the ones who vote for state representatives, governors, mayors, and even the president. The people hold the power to choose a leader for our country. The people are the ones who pay taxes on everything. “We the people,” are the first words in the constitution. They show that the U.S. has a democratic government that is for the people. We are the ones who choose who will lead our nation and we are the ones that have to deal with our decision.

Democracy is a form of government where laws and rights apply to every person in the nation. Everyone in the U.S. has freedom of speech and religion. Everyone will be arrested for robbery. It doesn’t matter who the person is because the laws and rights of the democracy automatically pertain to them.

Do you define a person by their actions or intentions?2

I define a person based on their intentions. Someone can mean to do something but something goes wrong and it doesn’t come out the way they planned. Everyone makes mistakes. It shows that they wanted to do good but made a mistake. Even if someone intended to do something and then did something else on purpose, then they changed their intentions. They may have originally intended to do something good but changed their mind and did something bad. That shows that they wanted to do something bad because they intended to. That is what you should judge them by. Also, someone may do something bad but for a good reason. Death penalty is an example of this. Killing a person is a crime, but they sentence bad people to death because they have done something wrong. The intention was to get rid of the bad people which is good but the action was killing which is bad.

Most people who did great things had great intentions. Very few had no intentions and just happened to do something great. Some intend to do something and it turned out differently but they had intentions. We choose people for jobs mostly based on what they say they will do in the position. When I went to my Choate interview, they said ”Tell me about yourself,” and everyone said that it really meant “What are you going to bring to Choate?” They did look at my past grades and tests scores but the main question was about what I intend to do for them. When anyone applies for a job, it’s the same thing. Yes, they look at past actions but they want to know what you intend to do in the future. For example, someone could be applying to be a doctor at a hospital. They could have gone to 8 years of medical school, found a cure for cancer and done surgery on over 400 people, but if they don’t intend on bringing anything to the hospital, then they won’t get the job. I know I’m exaggerating a little but the point is that their intentions matter the most. We choose our president based on his/her intentions. They say what they are intend to do and we pick them based on that.

What do you think? Do you define a person by their actions or intentions? Why?

Read the previous post before you read this:

Today is my dad’s birthday but he wasn’t here. He and my brother went to Florida. It’s been a good day. I had CMTs. The student directors in my group and I made a lot of progress with our group for drama. We finally know who is playing each character. It’s a lot of hard work but it’s also fun. I can’t believe it! I got the letter from Choate and I got in! I had been worrying sooooo much and now I have to decide where to go. That’s all for now!

Choate Rosemary Hall1

I’m going to High School next year and I applied to Choate. Now I’m nervous because I find out whether I got in very soon. I think they send out the acception letters tomorrow. I can’t wait yet I don’t want to find out. If I get in I have to decide where I’m going and if I don’t then I know where I’m going. We’ll see.

By the way the next post will be in the future and may not actually happen. It is just made up.

Student Directing0

In our school there is going to be a series of skits put on by some students. There are groups of kids and student directors and I’m one of the student directors. It is sooooo much fun. We took and play and changed it up a little. Now we have to decide who’s doing which part and it’s going to be hard. Our group is awesome. I have never done anything like this and now I get to. So far it’s been great.

Ten Things I Want To Do Before I Die!2

I was tagged by Tim to do this post and I had to put a lot of thought into it. I wanted to be tagged but hadn’t really thought of what to say. Here it goes……

1. Travel Europe like my lucky friend Julia who is going there soon.

2. Be accepted by Choate Rosemary Hall. I might not go but I at least want to get in. I find out this month!

3. Graduate from a good college.

4. Find a cure for a type of cancer or at least make significant advances towards finding one.

5. Get an award for something great.

6. Get married and have kids.

7. Be 100 years old. In other words I want to die after I turn 100 but that’s a big dream.

8. Invent something awesome.

9. Be the first to do something.

10. Change the world for the better.

All those “somethings” are unkown but I still hope they happen. I know I have big dreams, but hey, I like to dream big. Maybe all of these will really happen, maybe some will, or maybe none will. Either way I’m going to try.

And now I will tag…….
