If I were Barack Obama, this is the speech I would have given at the inauguration. Although I would’ve made it longer but we had to present them in class and we only had two minutes to. So… here it is:
Thank you fellow citizens. Standing up here today feels like I’m about to start something, something that will change America. And we will change America, together. We are in the middle of an economic crisis and a war. People are risking their lives for our country. People are risking their lives for us. It seems like the harder we try, the worse things get. But it will get better. We will make it better for everyone. All for one and one for all. Everyone is free and everyone deserves to be safe and happy. We are here not just for the presidential inauguration, but to start fresh. We need to clean our slates of the past and begin to create a better future. We the people of the United States of America need to join as one. All it takes is one small step and soon enough that one becomes millions. We must do this for ourselves, for our neighbors, and for our country. Neighbor to neighbor and friend to friend. Enemies will end their rivalries, the poor will have food to eat, and we will have peace, once and for all.
Tell me what you think. Would I make a good president? Then check out this website and visit some of the blogs in the blogroll for more speeches. They are awesome you have to see them.

What is the most powerful thing you can say to some one?
I think it is, “You mean the world to me.” To say it you have to mean it and if you mean it, it is pretty powerful. When someone says that you mean the world to them, they could mean that you are all they care about and they would risk there life for you. It means that they would give you up if they could have the entire world. It means they really care. It’s not just something you would say to the person you’re going to break up with in about a week. It has to be true because if you don’t mean it, it could be taken the wrong way. It is so powerful that it could mend a broken heart or break one. Careful what you say because you might not understand the power of the words that come out of your mouth.

Everyone has to, or wants to change something about themself. Whether it’s a bad habit, an attitude change, changing their actions, or simply just getting a good grade on a test. I think for me, I have some bad habits, I pick my nails and my lips are always chapped. I have gotten better with the nails but I need to use chapstick more often. Also, I want to be more confident. Maybe then I could help others be more confident. I want to help others more and I think I will start to. It takes one small action to change a person. So, if everyone took one small action to be a better person, imagine what the world would be like. It’s like recycling. I every person in the world recycled, our world would be clean. All it takes is the thought, a little determination, and you.

There are so many varieties of food in the world. My favorite foods are pickles, pasta, and chocolate (not together). I also love to eat popcorn and now that I got my braces off (Yay!) I can eat it whenever I want. I am not a cook. Sometimes I like to make cookies, or make mac and cheese but, I don’t like the oven. I always think I’m going to burn myself. That’s why I don’t take things out of it. I especially like making snickerdoodles. There yummy cookies that are rolled in cinnamin-sugar. Hmmmmm! I can taste them right now. What kind of food do you like? Do you have a favorite recipe to cook? Leave a comment and tell me about it.

Friends look different and friends act different but their still friends. A friend is someone who will be there for you when you need them. They are someone who when you call them up and want to hang out, they’ll want to if they can. They won’t hang up and call a different friend. Friends care how each other feel. They look out for each other like sisters, but they don’t fight as much. Friends do fight but they get over it by the next day. My friends laugh at the same things as me. We do crazy things because we know they are crazy. We do things not because we have to or because we should but because we feel like it. My friend had never skied before but I invited her and she said yes. She learned how to ski and we had a great time.
Friends won’t hurt you. They’ll help you through the hard times and make good times into great times. Friends will always care, as long as you care too.

I had a dog named Shena. She was a mix between a golden retriever and a terrier. She was sort of old but I loved her anyway. Even the neighbors loved her. One day, we decided she was too old and had to get put to sleep. My dad left with her and when he came back, Shena was gone. Sometimes I still cry when I think of her, but I know she died in peace. It was for the better. I just wish that I could see her once more.

In History class, we had to take four sections of a chapter in our S.S. book and turn them into thirty- second scripts. Also, they had to be in present tense which was difficult because they were about the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Then we had to record them as a podcast. Here is one of my scripts:
Expanding the Nation
Jefferson didn’t think that the Constitution granted the executive branch the power to bring territories into the U.S. However, he supported he deal because Livingston and Monroe convinced him too. The Senate approves the treaty made with France and are making the Louisiana Purchase. With the Louisiana Purchase, the U.S. is now twice the size that it was.

What does the word “strength” mean to you?
Does it mean muscles? Power? Willpower? Strength of the body? Of the heart? Of the mind?
I think it means more than just muscles. You don’t gain strength by just working out. You may not be able to lift a 20lb weight but that doesn’t mean you are weak. Being strong is having knowledge, being kind, and reaching for the stars. You don’t need muscles to fight for a dream. Also, strength is being able to resist and knowing that you should resist. If someone was smoking and knew it was wrong but couldn’t stop, it’s because they don’t have the strength to stop. Or even trying to stop would be strength. Strength is such a strange word. Powerful, yet simple and small at the same time. It could mean many things to some people but to others it could only mean one thing. What does it mean to you? Tell me what you think. Or if you have never thought about it, think about it know. Look for the meaning. Not in a dictionary but in your mind. Do you have strength? And if so, what kind of strength? Think about it.

I feel the world should be safer, friendlier and more peaceful. I am going to be kinder. When I’m annoyed or angry, I will work it out peacfully. I won’t scream just because I am mad. I will ask them to stop or simply smile and forget about it. I want to make the world a better place and I think Edward Everett Hale says it all when he says-
“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something I can do.”
This was on a blog called Bringing Us Together and that’s exactly what we should do. It’s a new blogging competition, a new year, and a new chance to make a difference in the world.

The quality of my life is determined by the quality of my actions. If I do something good o something good happens to me, my life is going pretty well. If I do something bad or something bad happens, my life tends to go downhill a bit. What do you think? Fill in the blank-
The quality of my life is determined by the quality of my _______.
